Subscriber Spotlight: Aloha Air Cargo

WBAT Safety’s Subscriber Spotlight series highlights different subscribers of the WBAT platform. The series aims to recognize our various valuable subscribers and the different ways the WBAT platform is used.

This edition of WBAT Safety’s Subscriber Spotlight features responses by Lori Sakurai, Director of Safety at Aloha Air Cargo, a cargo Part 121 air transport with 450 employees that services Hawaii, LAX, ONT, SEA, and GSO.

How do you use the WBAT platform? ASAP and safety reporting.

What do you consider the most useful part of the WBAT platform? Tracking safety reporting and having the capability to generate reports for analysis.

Please identify a recent safety issue or problem you identified in your data: Agents were opening the Main Cargo door during high winds when the door must remain closed, unaware that these conditions should STOP operations.

Please explain how you mitigated the issue or problem: Flight crew PIC determines when to cease operations, and newly hired personnel were not aware of the hazards of having the MCD (or service doors) opened during high-wind conditions, so we created a corrective action to better train.
