Aviation Safety Specialist 1

This position will work remotely with travel up to 20%. Job duties include supporting ASAP and the WBAT Help Center team support both voluntary and mandatory FAA programs with safety initiatives as identified by the aviation industry. Other job duties include on-site training, presenting at industry forums, preparing analytical reports and other WBAT activities defined by the Program Manager.

What will you be doing?

This position will be a key member of the WBAT team. Duties include:

-Assist operators in effectively utilizing WBAT for the management and operation of their voluntary and mandatory program as well as internal policy and procedures

-Responsible for initial system configuration, training, technical support, and user guidance

-Assist operators by using WBAT to conform to their operation type, SOPs, Manual Guidance, SMS processes and culture

-Assist operators with customization of all modules of WBAT including employee reporting, Safety Assurance, Safety Risk Assessment, and SMS tools

-Assist operators in developing, deploying, and sustaining processes that facilitate the collection, reporting, management, analysis, review, and quality control of safety data

-Conduct web, phone, and in-person training sessions and generate associated training materials

-Maintain user documentation, including user manuals and guides

-Provide the WBAT Technical Software Team feedback on WBAT usability and support processes, including development and implementation of methods to track defects, corrective actions, and system improvements

What skills will the ideal candidate have to be successful?

This position will require the following skillsets and experience:

-Bachelor’s degree or higher in Aeronautical Science, Aviation Safety, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics

-Can work remotely

-Has worked in a team environment

-Ability to work on projects and solutions for diverse customer base with minimal to no supervision

-Aviation safety experience at an airline or aviation company

-Knowledge of other FAA voluntary and mandatory safety programs, including FOQA and IEP, is desirable

-Detailed knowledge and understanding of AC 120-92B, as well as the international standards for SMS

-Understanding of human factors for aviation

-Knowledge of and experience with IOSA, EIOSA, ISBAO, ARG/US, Wyvern and other audit programs

-Excellent public speaking ability

-Excellent skill level in use of Microsoft Office products and project management tools such as Podio

-Able to instruct and teach in a classroom and webinar environment, including in front of large groups

-Must be a U.S. Citizen

-Some travel required
